Leader Recognitions

As a troop leader, you do a lot for your girls. Girl Scouts has a variety of awards (called "recognitions") that you can earn for the things that you do. This page describes those awards and provides links to the forms you need to complete to get what you've earned (because we don't know what you've done unless you tell us). It's a work in progress, so please check back often to see what new info we've added.

Leadership Development Pin and Leaves

If you have completed 10 hours of training you've probably earned this pin. It's a round pin with an owl on it, and holes where you can add leaves for additional training hours. Use this form to read about the requirements, and apply for your pin.

For every 10 additional hours of training, you earn a green leaf. When you get five green leaves, turn them in for a silver leaf. When you get five silver leaves, turn them in for a gold leaf. Use this form to read about the requirements, and apply for your leaves. Use this form to document each training course you take so that it can be applied toward your leaves.

Award of Distinction

This award is given to leaders (and coleaders) who actively incorporate the Girl Scout program goals, training requirements, and girl planning into their troop activities. If your troop is pretty active and you keep up on service unit meetings (prerequisite) and training, you probably qualify for this pin. To see if this one is for you, first read the overview, then complete the application.

How to Submit Forms

We don't really need them way ahead of time! Fill out the forms that apply to you and send them to our service unit recognitions coordinator, Kim Fike (1836 Meadowlark Ranch Rd, San Marcos, 92078). If you'd rather scan and email the forms, send them here.
