Join Girl Scouts!

Overview

San Marcos is a very active Girl Scout community with over 60 troops. That's 700+ girls in Girl Scouts, just in San Marcos! Each troop sets its own course, choosing its own activities and changing over time as the girls' needs change. Girl Scouts provides the keys to leadership, our leaders give the girls lots of encouragement, support, and direction, and the service unit team supports the leaders.

Leaders come first!

Each new troop starts with two leaders. Troop leadership is a fun way to share Girl Scouts with your daughter, and it's completely flexible to work with your schedule. Many of our leaders work full-time, have several children who participate in many activities, and have other hobbies as well. Leadership is also a great way to be involved with Girl Scouts after your children are all grown up! Leaders decide when and where to meet, attend orientation and training, and get background checks. We often have a waiting list, so we always welcome new leaders and give them tons of support! If you’re interested in finding out more about leadership, contact our membership development coordinator, Priscilla Chandra.

Then we can place girls into troops

If you aren’t up for considering troop leadership just yet, we can put your daughter on the waiting list for placement. Troops start up at all times of the year, including over the summer. We'll contact you if space comes available in an existing troop, or if a new troop starts up. To get on the list, send us email. When emailing us, please include your name and phone number, and your daughter's name, grade level, and school.
